Leszek Miller warned Donald Tusk: "This is a serious matter."

Former Prime Minister Leszek Miller addressed the confusion surrounding the KPO funds on the "Presidents and Prime Ministers" program. The experienced politician noted that some media outlets and politicians are downplaying the inappropriate spending of KPO funds intended to support the restaurant and hotel industry. He disagreed with this approach, stating that, in his opinion, the matter is "very serious."
The KPO scandal. Miller predicts major consequences"The impact of the KPO scandal must be assessed in terms of maintaining power, the shape of the coalition, and the party's position in the Sejm," he emphasized. He also explained why this matter could be very painful for Donald Tusk's camp. "The government's image as a team of professionals tasked with bringing order to the state and using the KPO transparently is being undermined," he noted. He said this would be "political fuel" for Law and Justice to rebuild its position.
According to Miller, the PiS narrative will be simple: "PO is not only no better than us, but even worse, because it takes EU money and steals it." President Karol Nawrocki could also use all of this as an argument to block government projects. Finally, Miller added, the entire scandal could also weaken the Polish government's relations with the European Commission.
Komorowski and Pawlak on the KPO scandalBronisław Komorowski and Waldemar Pawlak took a somewhat more lenient approach to the issue. The former president admitted that he was not yet able to assess the scale of irregularities in the KPO spending. "We know one thing: recovering the KPO funds was a huge success for the government and a huge waste for the previous one," he emphasized. "Poland has little time, and the risk of making a mistake is growing," he added. He also said that the scandal was discovered and exposed by the government itself, not the opposition, which should be commended.
Waldemar Pawlak tried to find a middle ground. "On the one hand, we need to burn out all errors and abuses with a hot iron," he declared. "And on the other, we need to show what these funds are being spent on, because, among other things, 83 hospitals will be renovated, major railway investments, and offshore wind energy," he added.
